We are really happy to announce that we are involved in this years Hackney WickED festival . . . .
Now in its 6th year, Hackney WickED remains a dynamic force for promoting local culture – dedicated to providing a platform for artists to showcase their work alongside established and international names.
2013 sees Hackney WickED Art Festival return for a 3-day festival programme; championing creativity through Exhibitions, Open Studios, Film, Art Fetes, Music, Workshops, Artists Talks, Critical Debates and more…”
gab are part of the ‘Development’ programme’* We will be guiding people through the festivities, exploring the local area to arrive at Gaia Gallery on the canal, a community barge project. Here using clay that has been excavated from beneath Tottenham Court Road and taking inspiration from what we experienced on our journey whilst interacting with the material in situ we will create imprints/reliefs of objects/ sculptures.
Then walking back through the studios/galleries and showing what people have made, maybe leaving the objects in the space for the rest of the festival weekend.

* ‘Development’ is a programme that reflects the festivals commitments to developing links with the community whilst developing local artists and sustaining local artistic practice in hackney wick and Fish Island.
Now uniquely in Hackney Wick, the artistic community is becoming the local community.
We are working on a number of projects that sit somewhere between professional development for artists and facilitating an exchange of ideas, methodologies, skills and stories between practicing artists and creative locals young and old.’
